Project 3: Composition

This collection of photos has a focus point and then a blurred background. They are all simple things in life that not everyone would think to photograph. The blurred background effect was achieved with my camera. I want my viewers to see how well the objects stand out and see the clear focus point.
The first photograph emphasizes viewpoint, the glass bottle stands out more than the jamba juice.
The second photo emphasizes balance. The water bottle is focused and the background is blurred.
The third photo emphasizes rhythm because of the three candles in a row.
The fourth photo emphasizes lines and texture because the fence goes on and it has a textured surface.
The last photograph illustrates depth and rule of thirds.
My favorite picture is the last one because of how the door nob is off center and the lighting in the background.

Number Project

Artists Statement:
This series is about five wine corks that started out as one and multiplied to five. They are evidence of my lagre collection, placed in nature. These wine corks clearly state all the wine that my parents drink. I show shape in my photos because all the corks have a distinct shape. Texture is also shown through these photos because you can see the textures on the corks. The most successful thing in my series is the placement of the corks and the focus on each one making the object dominant. I had struggles trying to get my camera to focus on corks because sometimes I would get too close. I fixed this problem by backing up and then zooming in. If I could do this project again I would choose a different object to change it up.

About Sara

Hello, I'm Sara and I'm a junior in high school. I love playing field hockey and doing anything artsy. I became interested in photography when my sister started showing me all the cool things you can do with a camera. I love taking photographs of small things up close. I love capturing things from nature and also still life. My favorite subjects to photograph are small children and landscapes.
